It may also include fabrication/joining steps like welding,bonding or brazing. This approach aims to overcome limitations of individual processes, enabling theproduction ofhigh-performance, competitive components. Such methodologies are of growing relevance particularly in propulsion, thermal management and structural systems. The key drivers include:- Geometric complexity: enabling the manufacture of intricate, topology-optimisedstructures difficult to realiseby conventional means alone.- Material efficiency: by adding material only where needed, hybrid manufacturing reduces waste and optimizes material usage.- Functional performance: enabling graded material properties, local reinforcements or tailored functionality.- Cost and lead time: consolidating steps, minimising waste and enabling complex geometries, though it mayrequire specialised planning, equipment and qualification.- Design flexibility: greater customization and flexibility in design, making it ideal for producing bespoke or low volume parts.This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Survey of relevant techniques, materials and equipment capabilities relevant to a hybrid manufacturing approach.- Selection of two representative case studies with associated requirements (e.g. one propulsion component, one thermal management part).- Design and definition of the hybrid manufacturing route for each case study.- Manufacturing and functional testing of demonstrators. The utilisation of new digital methods for supportinghybrid manufacturing decisions is welcomed. This may include artificial intelligence techniques, such asdeep/federated learning techniques, as well as a focus on use-cases of generatively designed parts (whichinherently benefit from the hybrid manufacturing techniques), alongside the artificial intelligence and machine learning data-driven learning.- Economic analysis, including cost comparison with conventional approaches and life-cycle considerations.Deliverables: Breadboard, ReportNOTE: This activity is currently in the GSTP Work Plan but will only be implemented after confirmation of financial support from Delegations. The final list of participating states will be known at tender issue.","ecosrequired":true,"establishment":"ESTEC","firstPublicationDate":"2026-07-10T08:44:54","id":191333,"idEra":25416,"initiatingService":"TEC-MSP","ipmeasure":"N/A","isArchived":false,"isCancelled":false,"isReissued":false,"isToBeReissued":false,"issueQuarter":"262","lastUpdateTime":"2026-08-18T10:48:35","lastUpdateUser":"rhamill","openDate":"2026-08-18T10:48:25","priceRange":"> 500 KEURO","programmeReference":"GSTP Element 1 Dev","tanumber":"1-13630","title":"HYBRID MANUFACTURING FOR SPACE APPLICATION - EXPRO PLUS","directorate":null,"countries":[{"id":6}],"products":[{"id":72},{"id":131}],"technologies":[{"id":121},{"id":412},{"id":462},{"id":463},{"id":466}],"status":{"id":2},"tenderType":{"id":5},"isFavourite":false,"eraVersion":1,"stageNumber":null,"isNew":false,"isUpdated":false,"declarationOfCompliances":["All the required declarations of compliance have been addressed and included in our proposal's Cover Letter"],"keyAcceptanceFactors":["The Tenderer confirms that the tender Cover Letter and the Detailed Proposal contain a price type compliant with the one requested in the ITT;","The Tenderer confirms, on its behalf and on behalf of its Subcontractor(s), to satisfy the “Eligibility Requirements” (see section 1.1 of the EXPRO/TC);","The Tenderer confirms, on its behalf and on behalf of its Subcontractor(s), to fulfil the requirements concerning “Free Competition” (see paragraph 10 of the Cover Letter of the Proposal Template);","The Tenderer confirms, on its behalf and on behalf of its Subcontractor(s), to accept the conditions established for “Non commitment by the Agency in competitive procurements” (see section 1.7 of the EXPRO/TC);","The Tenderer confirms, on its behalf and on behalf of its Subcontractor(s), to be compliant with the “Non Benefits Requirements” (see section 1.8 of the EXPRO/TC);","The Tenderer confirms that the tender Cover Letter and the Detailed Proposal contain a binding price;","The Tenderer confirms that the tender is compliant with the budgetary limit applicable to the ITT;"],"evaluationCriterias":[{"criterion":"Adequacy of the time dedication and costing, compliance with administrative tender conditions and acceptance of the contract conditions","weightingFactor":"20%"},{"criterion":"Understanding of the objectives of the activity and discussion of the problem areas, and adequacy of the programme of work","weightingFactor":"50%"},{"criterion":"Background and experience (related to the particular field concerned) of the company(ies) and staff, including adequacy of the proposed facilities.","weightingFactor":"30%"}],"entities":[],"procurementProposal":null,"responsible":"Kieran Killard","updateReason":"Tender Action Issued"}],"totalNew":0,"totalUpdated":0}
