This raises the scenario and challenge of how different partiescan cooperatively operate shared space assets through distributed access control mechanisms.The standard approach to manage access to a shared asset, e.g., hosted payloads, where one ofthe collaborating parties assumes full authority over the asset, while the other parties strictly rely onthis authority, may be too rigid for manyemerging use cases. Modern concepts such as launch rideshares, ground segments and platforms as a service models, or even token-based economiccommercialisation of space missions require a more fully collaborative approach.Thus, in the pursuit towards true collaboration and along trends such as web3 and Blockchain, thisactivity shall aim to demonstrate fully distributed identity and accessmanagement. DecentralisedLedger Technologies (DLT) shall be leveraged to support associated operations concepts andmanage credentials and policies for individual actors interacting with the space assets. DLTsolutions differ in key aspects regarding cybersecurity, performance and scalability thus a specificemphasis shall be placed on measuring overheads in terms of data, network traffic and computingpower in the constrained environment of space systems.
