The upcoming 6G NTN integration into the terrestrial telecom systemenables new features such as:a. Seamless interoperability between terrestrial and satellite networks;b. Direct-to-device connectivity without specialised satellite terminals in FR 1 (i.e., <7GHz);c. Ubiquitous connectivity across geography;d. Broadband servicesfor aviation, maritime, and cross-border mobility;e. AI-Native networking to optimise beam management, manage mobility, and dynamically allocate spectrum across the multi-layered satellitenetwork.However, today no European solution exists for a full gNB signal processing hardware platform and software protocol stack as needed for 5G/6Gregenerative NTN payloads.This activity will develop a European gNB hardware and software protocol stack architecture for regenerative NGSO satellite with a fully European signalprocessing platform, i.e., both hardware and software. The gNB shall be able to support high throughput 5G/6G connectivity either in S-band spectrum(e.g., up to 50Mbit/s) or in Ka-band spectrum (e.g., up to 1Gbit/s).The activity will: Develop a concept of an efficient signal processing hardware and software protocol stack architecture for a European gNB implementation for regenerative NGSO satellites. Identify a suitable European signal processing platform and characterise relevant functional blocks of the signal processing hardware. A laboratory breadboard will be developed together with electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) suitable to performradiation characterisation including Single Event Effects (SEE), Displacement Damage (DD), and Total Ionizing Dose (TID). A radiation mitigation approach shall be developed and implemented using a combination of software- and hardware-based solutions to compensate for identified critical performance impacts. The devicewith the applied radiation mitigation measures will be radiation tested,and the performance will be compared to the unmitigated hardware performance. Carry out analysis and concept trade-offs to ensurethehigh throughput connectivity and minimised power consumption per MHz in the selected band (S-band or Ka-band)Identify and assess relevant in-orbit experiment considerations.","ecosrequired":true,"establishment":"ESTEC","firstPublicationDate":"2026-07-02T12:16:11","id":190755,"idEra":25387,"initiatingService":"CIP-PT","ipmeasure":"N/A","isArchived":false,"isCancelled":false,"isReissued":false,"isToBeReissued":false,"issueQuarter":"000","lastUpdateTime":"2026-10-06T14:57:25","lastUpdateUser":"rhamill","openDate":"2026-10-06T14:57:21","priceRange":"> 500 KEURO","programmeReference":"5G/6G - Advanced Tec","tanumber":"1-13618","title":"CONSOLIDATION OF A FULL G-NODEB FOR SPACE BASED ON A EUROPEAN SIGNAL PROCESSING PLATFORM (ARTES 4.0 SPL 5G/6G 3F.089) - EXPRO+","directorate":null,"countries":[{"id":1},{"id":62},{"id":26},{"id":25},{"id":24},{"id":23},{"id":22},{"id":19},{"id":67},{"id":17},{"id":15},{"id":13},{"id":11},{"id":10},{"id":9},{"id":6},{"id":2},{"id":16},{"id":168}],"products":[{"id":364}],"technologies":[{"id":179}],"status":{"id":2},"tenderType":{"id":5},"isFavourite":false,"eraVersion":1,"stageNumber":null,"isNew":false,"isUpdated":false,"declarationOfCompliances":["All the required declarations of compliance have been addressed and included in our proposal's Cover Letter."],"keyAcceptanceFactors":["The Tenderer confirms, on its behalf and on behalf of its Subcontractor(s), to satisfy the “Eligibility Requirements” (see section 1.1 of the EXPRO/TC);","The Tenderer confirms, on its behalf and on behalf of its Subcontractor(s), to fulfil the requirements concerning “Free Competition” (see paragraph 11 of the Cover Letter of the Proposal Template);","The Tenderer confirms, on its behalf and on behalf of its Subcontractor(s), to accept the conditions established for “Non commitment by the Agency in competitive procurements” (see section 1.7 of the EXPRO/TC);","The Tenderer confirms, on its behalf and on behalf of its Subcontractor(s), to be compliant with the “Non Benefits Requirements” (see section 1.8 of the EXPRO/TC);","The Tenderer confirms that the tender Cover Letter and the Detailed Proposal contain a binding price;","The Tenderer confirms that the tender Cover Letter and the Detailed Proposal contain a price type compliant with the one requested in the ITT;","The Tenderer confirms that the tender is compliant with the budgetary limit applicable to the ITT;","ARTES 4.0 Strategic Programme Line - Space for 5G/6G and Sustainable Connectivity \nThe Tenderer confirms that supporting evidence of the authorisation of funding from the relevant Participating State(s) is provided as part of the Tender cover letter and in accordance with the requirements of section 4 of the Cover letter to the present ITT."],"evaluationCriterias":[{"criterion":"Background and experience (related to the particular field concerned) of the company(ies) and staff, including adequacy of the proposed facilities.","weightingFactor":"30%"},{"criterion":"Understanding of the objectives of the activity and discussion of the problem areas, and adequacy of the programme of work","weightingFactor":"50%"},{"criterion":"Adequacy of the time dedication and costing, compliance with administrative tender conditions and acceptance of the contract conditions","weightingFactor":"20%"}],"entities":[],"procurementProposal":null,"responsible":"Nathalie Dorval","updateReason":"Tender Action Issued"}],"totalNew":0,"totalUpdated":0}
