Within EOP SM, \"Future Science\" refers to forward looking science studies aligned with the ESA EO Science Strategy. These studies are designed to address fundamental Earth system science gaps that are not covered by current or planned missions. They therefore go beyond the scope of existing Science Plans activities. The activity will develop a robust and traceable methodology to assess both science impact and socio economic impact. Science impact will include, for example, scientific outputs, modelling advances, retrieval improvements, uncertainty characterisation, mission requirement support, community building, and uptake in international assessments.
