It includes the definition of an architecture for data handling unitsbased on standard module functions. A standard module procurementflow has been defined, as well as astandardized backplane connector and electrical interfaces. This allows independent developmentofinteroperable modules that can be connected in ADHA units.This activity aims to develop ADHA solid-state mass-memory (MM) modules, based on ADHA-compatiblehardware modules. The development will follow the standard requirements for the development of ADHAmodules.The mass-memory module design will be fully compliant to the ADHA generic specification for mass-memorymodules. The developmentwill include the development of the mass-memory software (including support forfile-based operations, and CFDP Class-1 and Class-2). The developed ADHA mass memory module willsupport high-speed data reception and transfers, featuring a scalable architecture to meet the demands offuture ESA missions in earth observation, science, exploration, and navigation, as well as commercialmissions. Utilizing state-of-the-art processing, memory storage and interconnect technologies, this new massmemoryshall offer superior integration, data storage volume and processing performance compared toprevious generations. These advancements will also enable the implementation of sophisticated functionssuch as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms for on-board data processing.The activity encompasses the following tasks:- Detailed module requirements analysis, based on the existing ADHA specification documents, including theADHA generic mass-memory module specification.- ADHA mass memory module architectural design and trade-off of key components.- Engineering model (EM) design, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, FPGA design and software.- Engineering model (EM) manufacturing and EGSE procurement.- Engineering model (EM) validation campaign, including integration in anADHA unit rack.- Data-handling and storage demonstration, including performance benchmarks.NOTE: This activity is currently in the GSTP Work Plan but will only be implemented after confirmation of financial support from Delegations.
