The ESTRACK network consists of two categories of antennas: The four 35m Deep Space Antennas (Category 1) and the smaller non-Deep Space Antennas (Category 2). The equipment and technical expertise required for Deep Space antennas differ substantially from those needed for smaller antenna systems.The Deep Space Antennas can further be subdivided in two groups, the first-generation Deep Space antennas in NNO-1, CEB-1, MLG-1 and the latest 2nd generation Deep Space antenna NNO-3.
